Major

Story was told by his mother.

Major was diagnosed with HLH at 6 weeks old. I initially took Major to Dayton Children’s for a fever of 100.5. I have to older children 15 and 10, so when taking Major I just thought a typical fever no biggie obviously some type of bug. While there they ran every test that made sense and every test came back negative and his temp had been brought down and we were sent home and he was diagnosed with a possible virus. We arrived home around 4am and around 8am I woke to check on him, Major was on fire, I checked his temp and it now read 104.6. I immediately called the ER and was told to bring him back of course. Major spent 5 days at Dayton Children's, he had multiple spinal tap's again everything they tested for had shown negative but he was declining fast. I believe it was the 4th or 5th day (a lot was happening) that they gave us the news of him having HLH. My family and I had no knowledge of this treacherous disease, but from my father and sisters everyone started their own research. They demanded he go to Cincinnati Children's Hospital. After speaking with the hematologist he agreed Cincinnati Children's was the best option for Major. On the 5th day Major was transported to Cincinnati where we would meet Dr. Michael Jordan and his team. Major spent several months there and finally received his bone marrow transplant February 3, 2025 with dad being his donor. I am here to say it was nothing short of a miracle that my sonshine fought a mighty fight and is here with us today. He celebrated his first birthday September 4, yay Major! I also find it special with September being Histiocytosis Awareness Month, isn't God wonderful. Major is a bright, bubbly and happy baby even through his battle he put a smile on his face.
