After Kori’s older brother's genetic HLH diagnosis/treatment, we knew when I found out I was pregnant that she had a 25% chance of having HLH. When she was born, we immediately tested her, which was then confirmed at 2 weeks old that she was impacted. We went to the clinic weekly back home in Pittsburgh for lab work to manage the HLH, until we moved to Cincinnati in December for her January transplant. We found out that she had no suitable, unrelated donors. Our doctor decided to use her dad as her donor. This was extra special to us being their dad also saved her brother’s life, as his donor. She received her dad’s cells on Jan. 28th, 2025. Since then, she has had a smooth recovery with minimal complications.
