Today's warrior is Layana Tebo from the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
Layana was diagnosed with Secondary HLH, triggered by Epstein-Barr virus. On May 27th, 2024, Layana traveled from Omaha, Nebraska to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where she received life-saving treatment. Layana was just 1 year old at the time. By July 2nd, she beat HLH and was able to return home to her big sister.
Today, Layana is 2 years old and will turn 3 in March, with no signs or symptoms of HLH. The family are forever grateful to Dr. Jordan and the HLH team at Cincinnati Children’s for saving her life and supporting their family through this journey.
"Her path hasn’t been easy, but we support her every single day. She’s now in Headstart and healthy as can be!
